I need to make silicone mold to mold a part made out of epoxy resin.?

I asked a guy for the procedure (I can't get a hold of him anymore) but I've never made a mold before. This is what he gave me:

';First, you need a master (an exact representation of what you will make a mold from. Then you take a mold from the master using special two-part silicone. You have to make the mold in two halves with the flat face of the master down so you can lay CF in it.

Once you have the mold made, you can make the parts by laminating CF into the mold, then casting the rest of the part with colored epoxy resin.';

-Can someone clear this up for me!? And what the heck is CF?

Where can I buy these materials?

Thanks

Books are alright...but don't give you that visual demo you sometimes need in order for the process to click. I went to school to learn mold making, but since then I have found many wonderful online source that 'show' you just how the process works. One such place in YouTube, and I recommend Brick In The Yard Mold Supply.

Check out the numerous vids they have, and if you have any questions after that....there's a toll free number you can call and ask their opinion and what materials would best suit you to complete your task at hand.

Hope that helps a little.I need to make silicone mold to mold a part made out of epoxy resin.?
Check out the book ';Sculpture in Plastics'; by Nicholas Roukes. Covers all that and more.....
