Will silicone dry in a sealed container?

its for a science projectWill silicone dry in a sealed container?
It depends on what size the container is, how well sealed it is and the temperature at which it is kept.

If it is a small container with no space for the silicone to evaporate into and if nothing can get in or out of the container (a perfect seal), or it is kept at the freezing temperature of silicone, then no, it will not evaporate because there is no place for the silicone to go.

However if the container is much larger than the amount of silicone. the seal is not perfect and it is not frozen solid then yes, it would evaporate over time into the rest of the jar or into the air.

So i believe the answer you are looking for is that pure silicone in a jar at room temperature, since there is nothing as a perfect seal, would eventually evaporate into the air.

OK, you're talking about silicon caulk in a test tube. My advice is to get a tube of silicone and notice that it says to apply within a range of temperatures and it should give the drying time within that temperature range. And, yes, an uncorked test tube full of silicone caulk would evaporate much faster because the silicone would have much more air to evaporate into. Will silicone dry in a sealed container?
yes, it may take along time and if it was ever opened and exposed to o2 even more so.
