Is silicone in shampoos and conditioners bad for hair? How?

Actually, I think AngelEve is confusing silicon with silicone. Silicone is a polymer. While it does have silicon atoms (the backbone of this compound is Silicon Oxide), it is also made up of various organic compounds like phenyls. It has completely different properties.

I don't see why a substance akin to a Superball would be bad for your hair. Hmmm, maybe you'd get more ';bounce?'; Okay, that was a bad pun.Is silicone in shampoos and conditioners bad for hair? How?
Silicone is a component of sand. I dont see how its ';bad'; for your hair, but maybe just rough on it. It really depends on the type of silicone too. Silica is smooth and will coat anything, and also make it slippery. So if you applied something like that on hair, it would probably make it shiny and smooth to the touch. Honestly tho, I think if you applied it often or on a regular basis, it would cause build up on your hair that could possibly be hard to remove later.
