I desperately need some earplugs for clubbing tonight - I've have mild tinnitus and I don't want to make it worse. There are limiteds stores where I live for buying earplugs, but I should be able to get hold of some silicone ones - will they be any good?

Well, by now you should know if they worked. I don't see why not, as long as you inserted them correctly.
