Can You Paint Silicone?

I was wondering because I was thinking of using silicone for my science project..but I want to be able to paint over it. Is that possible? Can You Paint Silicone?
If you talking about the silicone that is sold at the Hardware stores, then simply the answer is yes you can paint over it, but prime it first, this is imperative that you do this step.

Purchase the water based one or more commonly known as the Latex Silicone. It is paintable and states so on the label.

I myself have used it for different Art projects successfully.

There is an on line tutorial and instructions for uses other than what it was initially intended for: caulking around windows,

sinks,bathtubs and doors .

In Arts and Crafts it is used for many projects as it is also used in Interior Design for other decorative purposes.

You can Google.... latex silicone- decorative uses etc. and you will find the other uses I have mentioned.

Hope this helped,

Cheers!Can You Paint Silicone?
It is possible but it may be more trouble than you want to go to. The paint must be flexible. There is a paint called pax paint used in special effects makeup on silicone pieces. This can be bought premade or mixed yourself. Sorry can't remember the exact recipe but one method is added acrylic paint to rubber cement and painting it on in thin coats.
Prime it first with a layer of Kiltz, then paint over that.
