LOL
I think you will be fine.... no need to worry.
Cute story to tell people now though. I always do silly things like this when cooking.
This will make me chuckle for the rest of the day.... but I'm laughing WITH you, not AT you...... =)If I baked a lasagna with a silicone potholder in it, should I worry?
I agree with the best answer, but I question whether the pot holder was silicone. They are usually polyester, nylon, nomex, kevlar or similar fibers. Silicone is not the correct terminology.

Yes, you are fine. Like you said, it did not melt.

sorry! that's pretty funny! I hope there are no ill effects.
I'm sure you will be fine. If it was poisonous they wouldn't use it as bakeware. I'm glad you didn't eat it though!
Reminds me of the time I flavoured a chicken with carpet freshner - accidentally of course. We all make mistakes.
silicone has a very high melting point which is why they make all sorts of cooking tools out of it. i have silicone cake pans that i use in the oven and nothing has ever happened to them. you should be fine.
Yup! I am laughing... but KimP... not at you with you! I cannot tell you whether you should be concerned or not. But it is a little to late now. I wouldn't be concerned, but that is me.
If this makes you feel better, one morning I set the pot of coffee on the stove to heat it up, and I saw a flower in bloom that I had been waiting to see, so I walked across the field to have a closer look, which reminded me of a rare orchid I wanted to take a peek at and see if it was in bloom.. so I hiked up into the woods to see that.. and boy it was beautiful.
Then I returned to my home and as I approached I caught the whiff of something burning and I thought ';hm mm someone put plastic in their fireplace.';
And all of a sudden it registered that I had left the pot on the stove, I ran in and sure enough the pot was on fire! Thank goodness I got the flames extinguished without much damage to the walls!
Are you blonde? If so, you have a good excuse. If not, you should dye your hair.
silicone is just the plastic, and if it's a potholder then it is made to withstand high temps, soI think you're ok
You'll be fine. Silicone utensils and bakeware on the market are made to safely come into contact with foods at high temperatures and as far as I'm aware the silicone oven mitts and potholders are made of the same exact stuff.
you should be fine... I can't stop laughing though.... sorry.
