No on both. They break your nose to do the procedure, it takes up to 6 hours to complete and is really painful. if you have cable then watch Dr. 90210. I had a friend that had a cast on his nose for 6 weeks after his. He got his nose broke, but to do it voluntarily unless you have a deviated septum sounds a little scary to me.Is silicone nasal implant procedure(rhinoplasty) a simple and safe procedure??
No surgery is simple or safe, but normally there aren't any problems with rhinoplasty, but a few weeks ago, there was a girl who died while getting one.
Safe and simple are relative terms when you are discussing surgery. Safer and simplier than a transplant, but not as safe or simple as perhaps a tubal ligation. Seriously, the silicone used for nasal implants is totally safe. Silicone is inert as far as the body is concerned, so your immune system won't care. Thousands of folks have rhinoplasty done every year and they all survive. Providing you have a board certified surgeon, with experience under his/her belt, and the procedure is done in a nice clean hospital, you should have no real problems. Like any surgery, there are risks involved. You could bleed excessively, you could react to any number of things. If you are otherwise young and healthy, then the likelyhood of any trouble is not that great. The doctor you choose for the procedure will go over all the risks and such before you sign consent, and you can talk over the concerns face to face. If you chose a cut rate sawbones who does things under the table in some off the wall location, all bets are off. But if you are going to a reputable surgeon, then yes- it's safe and fairly straightforward.
